Random Stuff!

This post is just a bunch of random things that have happened lately that I want to record for memory sake! The first one has to do with yet another one of my children exploring her 'smeller'. I came home from work one day and noticed that Emily was sniffling a lot and kept picking at her nose. I just thought she had a stuffed up nose, but she kept messing with it and when I looked closer I saw a little hair-like thing sticking out of her nose. I got out my handy tweezers, and this is what I found...

It's kind of hard to see what it is, but Emily stuffed a piece of carpet up her nose. I could only reach it with my tweezers, so it was pretty far up there. So gross! That was a couple weeks ago, and again, I thought Emily would have learned her lesson......but apparently not. We went to my dad's house tonight for fathers day. My kids LOVE going over there! Well, Grandma Riet, being the awesome grandma that she is, gave us a baggie of cherries to take home. I let Emily hold them in the car on the way home, and didn't realize until we got home that she had opened the bag and eaten some of the cherries......not a big deal. I then notice that she's sniffling again and picking at her nose. Fantastic. Just what I need! So I get out my tweezers again, and after about half an hour of fighting Emily to pick at her nose, I finally extract this from her nose...

...what is that, you're asking? That would be half of a cherry(thankfully no pit!)! I'm so glad I was able to get it out! Now my question is, at what age will she STOP seeing what will fit up her nose??? ...(and at what age will mommy stop freaking out every time she does??) :)

On to happier news, Jonathan is growing up too quickly. He is so smart, and loves to share his knowledge with whomever will listen.
~A couple weeks ago in primary, the primary president was asking if any of the kids had missionary moments to share. Jonathan raised his hand, and when called on said, "I eat dinner with my mommy and daddy." Sister Nutall was quick to respond with, "so do you teach your mommy and daddy about what you learn about in primary?" to which Jonathan replies, "no, I don't ever really think about church."
~Then today I was asked to teach Jonathans class with my friend Lindsey. Our lesson was about how Heavenly Father created animals for us. She asked where milk comes from, and one of the kids said, "from cows." Jonathan quickly said, "No, milk comes from the grocery store." I laughed at that. He said it so matter-of-factly!
~Jonathan makes us laugh all the time! Last week, out of the blue, Jonathan said, "FYI mommy, that stinks." Where in the heck does he hear this stuff? :)
~Jonathan has also decided he likes to dress himself! I've resorted to small bribes to get him to change before we leave the house!

He loves his basketball jerseys! Awww, and look at this cute picture!!!

Jonathan sure loves his daddy!

And now I'll leave you with a few cute pics of my kids!!

Catch up

I haven't posted for a while, so I figure I'll catch up with what I can. Life around her has been pretty busy. I've been working over 3o hours a week, with Trevor still working full time, plus trying to keep my house clean, keeping my kids entertained, going to the gym regularly, and keeping up with my church duties. I feel like there's not enough time in the day to get everything done that I need to! I've been slacking on a lot of things, but for now I'm just doing the best that I can! :) So here are a couple things we've done within the last few months!

My sister and her husband were able to go on a cruise for their 10th anniversary last month, and we were lucky to be able to spend the weekend with their kids. We had lots of fun! My kids just LOVE their cousins! We played outside in the kiddie pool, we played lots of Wii, we had monster ice cream sundaes, and we pitched a tent in our upstairs loft so the kids could have a "camp out". I even got to take all 5 of the kids(2 mine, 3 nephews) to church with me on mothers day. I was a little worried, but they were all great! The Roper boys actually seemed to tame my kids. It turned out to be a great weekend, and I was so glad to be able to have my nephews here!

This happened a couple months ago, but it was too cute to not post. So, if you know my kids you know they love Dora and Diego. There's one Dora episode called Little Star, where a star falls down from the sky and they're trying to get little star back up to the moon. ANYWAY, in part of the movie they have to solve a riddle given by the grumpy old troll. He says, "Star light, star bright, how many stars are here tonight," and they have to count the stars. Well, one night I was going to Jonathan's room to tuck him in when I hear him say, "Star light, star bright, how many boogies are here tonight?" Then I hear him start to count. I walk into his room and this is what I see.

I had noticed a while ago that he had been putting his boogers on his wall, but I hadn't realized there were so many!! It was absolutely disgusting!! So after I took this picture, I spent almost an hour trying to scrub these crusty boogers off the wall. I brought Jonathan in after and asked him if he noticed anything different. Of course he didn't, but I made it clear that he would NOT be putting any more nose pickings on his wall. Although I found his altered riddle hilarious, I never want to pick dried crusty boogers off a wall again. :)

I think the last thing I'll post happened a couple months ago. Emily has been able to open doors for a while, and has just recently become curious about the door locks. So I come home one afternoon to find out that Emily has locked her bedroom door, walked out, and shut the door behind her. I was frustrated, but we had to head out for a birthday party, so I didn't really worry about it then. Trevor had to leave the party early so he could go to work, but I didn't come home until late that night. We come home to find this...

Trevor says he was trying to wedge a screwdriver in between the door and the door jam, while nudging the door with his shoulder. As you can see, the door is super cheap, and it just broke in half! Needless to say I was a little shocked! Hopefully Emily has learned her lesson about door locks!! I know I have!!

Well, that's all I have time for right now. We've had other things happen the last couple months, including Emily turning 2 and Trevor turning 32, but we don't have any pictures to share. I'll do better next time!
