Happy 4th of July

We started our 4th of July out at our ward breakfast. We had to get up super early, but the food and company were worth it!



The night of 4th of July we had Aunt Alisa and her friend Shannon over for dinner and fireworks. Jonathan had a little thing for Shannon, and kept showing off for her and trying to get her attention. She thought it was cute, but I bet by the end of the night she was happy to leave!:) This was the first year Jonathan really liked the fireworks. He got scared a couple times, but did really good overall. Emily, on the other hand, didn't do as well. We even started off with the quiet fireworks so she hopefully wouldn't get scared, but it didn't work. She didn't like them at all. We ended up putting her to bed about half way through the fireworks. But overall it was a great evening!!

A couple days after Jonathan's birthday we took him to Chuck E Cheese with his best friends. I told Jonathan he could take one best friend to Chuck E Cheese, and he chose "Jojo, Kyky, and Jacob"....I know, it's more than one, but it was just too cute. He loves his cousins. He also asked if his friends Maddie and Bella could come, so we ended up having a big party at Chuck E Cheese.

This was Jonathan's favorite part! He LOVES basketball. (just a side note....that night when Jonathan said his prayers, he didn't thank Heavenly Father for his birthday presents, or his yummy cupcakes, or that he was able to have all his friends there......he thanked him for the basketball hoop that was just his size. Hey, I'm not complaining. At least he's thankful for something!)

We were so glad everyone was able to come. We had such a fun time, and I'm sure Jonathan will have great memories of his first time at Chuck E Cheese!!

He's THREE!!!!!!!

On June 30th, Jonathan turned 3 years old! I can't believe what a big boy he is now. We celebrated the day before his birthday with Grandma and Grandpa Van Ginkel, Auntie Alisa, and Grandma Riet and Grandpa Jack.

I am so behind on posting, so get ready for that last month of our lives!!

These pictures are just random pics that I thought were adorable! I couldn't resist sharing them!


I put Emily's hair in curlers for the first time, and I just thought she looked too cute! It brought back memories of my mom putting our hair in curlers on Saturday night so our hair would be curly for Sunday. Emily left them in for a good 5 minutes, and then pulled them out. So needless to say she didn't have curly hair, but she sure looked cute in the curlers!!

How long have you been married? 5 years

How long did you date? Just over three years. Our first date was in December of '99, and we were married in February of '03

How did you meet? We initially met at a singles dance where my sister introduced us. I remember I was dancing with this guy that was holding me a little too close. He had danced with me for two dances straight, and I couldn't seem to get away from him. Trevor thankfully came to my rescue and asked if he could dance with me. I had a super fun time with him, and the rest is history!!!!!

Who eats more sweets? ME!!!!!! I've kind of rubbed off on him, but I'm still the queen of sweets

Who said “I love you” first? Trevor, except he technically mouthed 'olive juice', but I knew what he meant!!

How old is he? 31

Who is taller? Trevor by about a foot

Who is smarter? Definitely Trevor. He can remember just about anything he's EVER heard or been taught!!!!

Who does the laundry? I wash and fold, and he puts away

Who pays the bills? Unfortunately I do.....it's definitely not one of my strong points!

Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? Which right? Looking at the bed, me.......laying in the bed, him......I'm so confused...

Who mows the lawn? We don't have a lawn, but hopefully that will change soon.

Who drives? Trevor normally does.

Who is more stubborn? I say TREVOR,hands down, but I don't know what he'd say.

Who kissed who first? He kissed me.....on our first date!!!!!!

Who has more siblings? Yeah, me. 6 to 4.

Who wears the pants? I'm not sure how to answer this question! We both wear pants, how about that??

Monkeyin' Around

Last week I decided to go through my kids closet and organize all the clothes they had grown out of. It brought back so many memories seeing all the clothes that Jonathan wore. I found his halloween costume that he wore when he was 4 months old. It was really big on him when he wore it, so I thought I'd try it on Emily. It fit her perfectly, and she looked adorable!!

Memorial Day fun!!

We took the kids, along with Aunt Alisa, to Six Flags Marine World for memorial day. We'd never been there, and were so excited to be able to go. The kids just loved it!
